Leave, Board of Directors. A nurse who is elected to the Board of Directors of the Ontario Nurses' Association, other than to the office of President, shall be granted upon request such leave(s) of absence as she or he may require to fulfill the duties of the position. Reasonable notice - sufficient to adequately allow the Hospital to minimize disruption of its services shall be given to the Hospital for such leave of absence. Notwithstanding Article 10.04, there shall be no loss of seniority or service for a nurse during such leave of absence. Leave of absence under this provision shall be in addition to the Union leave provided in Article 11.02

Notwithstanding Article there shall be no loss of service or seniority for a nurse during such leave of absence. During such leave of absence, the nurse's salary and applicable benefits shall be maintained by the Hospital and the Association agrees to reimburse the Hospital in the amount of the full cost of such salary and applicable benefits. It is understood, however, that during such leave the nurse shall be deemed to be an employee of the Ontario Nurses' Association. The nurse agrees to notify the Hospital of her or his intention to return to work at least two (2) weeks prior to the date of such return.

The number of nurses on leave at one time shall be limited to one (1).

During such leave of absence, the nurse's salary and applicable benefits shall be maintained by the Employer and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer in the amount of the full cost of such salary and applicable benefits. 13.06 A nurse shall be granted five (5) regularly scheduled consecutive work days bereavement leave, without loss of pay or benefits, on the death of a spouse, common-law spouse, same sex partner, a parent, step parent, adopted or xxxxxx parent of the nurse or the nurse’s spouse, a child, step-child, or xxxxxx child of the nurse or the nurse’s spouse, a grandparent, step grandparent, grandchild or step grandchild of the nurse or of the nurse's spouse, the spouse of a child, the nurse’s brother or sister, the nurse’s parent-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law. Such bereavement leave shall be taken at the time of that bereavement or at the time the nurse received notification of such bereavement. Proof of bereavement may be required by the Director of Employee and Labour Relations, or designate. The definition of immediate family shall be deemed to apply equally to nurses engaged in a common-law relationship who are deemed to be spouses pursuant to the Family Law Reform Act, as amended. Where the burial occurs outside the Province, reasonable travelling time up to five (5) working days without pay may be granted at the discretion of the nurse’s Director, or designate. In order to receive the paid leave provided for in this Clause, absence must result in loss of time and pay from a regular shift and the nurse must have worked the day before or the day after, provided that a nurse granted leave without pay for compassionate purposes within fourteen (14) calendar days prior to death shall not lose benefits under this Clause.
