Legal Problems. When a bargaining unit employee is sued because of his or her status as a police officer, the City will continue its practice of evaluating the complaint and determining what actions, if any, it will take pursuant to Section 111.07, Florida Statutes regarding the defense of civil actions against bargaining unit employees which arises from a complaint for damages or injury suffered as a result of any act or omission of action for an act or omission arising out of and in the scope of his or her employment or function.
