Common use of Liability coverage for teachers Clause in Contracts

Liability coverage for teachers. The Board agrees to indemnify and hold teachers harmless to the extent of the policy limits provided in 16 VSA, Section 1756, from any financial loss and expense. This would include reasonable legal fees and costs arising out of any claim, demand, suit, criminal prosecution, or judgment which occurred by reason of any act or failure to act by such teacher within or without the school building, provided such teacher, at the time of the act or omission complained of, was acting in accordance with established policy. In the event that the district receives notification from the insurance company that a claim has been filed, any teacher named in that claim will be given prompt notice of such claim to allow him an opportunity to submit an account of the incident in writing.
