Listed Chemicals. Phthalate chemicals are used in PVC formulations to make the resulting plastic soft and flexible. Six phthalates are listed under Proposition 65, including Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, also known as Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, ("DEHP"). DEHP is listed under Proposition 65 as known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
