During the 1946 Labour Conference it was jointly agreed that the Companies and the Union would each appoint a Committee of two (2) to select from the verbatim transcripts of the 1945-46 and the 1946-47 Joint Conferences "Statements of Policy" which were then to be approved by the International Officers of the Union and by representatives of the Companies and thereafter printed in a booklet to be entitled "Statements of Policy". (See 1946 Transcript, page 80 and page 159). This policy has been re-adopted at subsequent Labour Conferences. The Statements of Policy contained in this booklet have been reworded for the sake of brevity and clarity, and have been agreed to by both Union and Company representatives. They are intended as a supplemental guide in the interpretation of the contract on the points which they cover. (a) Definition of "Supervision". (Memorandum of Agreement dated January 30, 1958) Employees and employers recognize that supervisors are excluded from the provisions of the B.C. Standard Labour Agreement and accordingly it is improper for supervisors normally to do the kind of work which is done by those defined as employees in the Agreement. It is also recognized that for the practical and efficient operation of the xxxxx there are occasions when a supervisor must help. Such occasions must be temporary in nature and must not result in the displacement or exclusion of employees under the Agreement. (b) Definition of "Him". (Page 98, 1946 Transcript) Wherever the word "him" appears in the contract it will be taken as referring to a male or female employee as the case may be. (c) Definition of "Engineering".(Page 35, 1947 Transcript) The word "engineering" as used in this section does not refer to steam operating engineers.
Living Out Allowance. The Company will provide Board and Lodging when an employee cannot reasonably return to his/her place of residence at the conclusion of the working day or shift. Employees who elect to provide their own Board and Lodging shall be provided an allowance of sixty-five dollars ($65.00) in lieu of same. Employees who elect to provide their own accommodation shall receive the aforementioned allowance each day they are assigned and report at the work location that attracts a room and board requirement.
Living Out Allowance. When employees are required to stay away from home overnight, the Company shall pay the hotel, plus thirty-five dollars ($35.00) for meals.
Living Out Allowance. Where applicable, living-out allowance shall be determined at a pre-tender or a pre-job meeting.
Living Out Allowance. Should a living out allowance be negotiated for any job or project, then under these circumstances the job site will be the report point and every employee must take living out allowance. Living out allowance shall not be paid to local residents as defined in 704(h). Where living out allowance is provided, it is agreed that an amount of eighty-five dollars ($85.00) per day and effective May 1, 2007, ninety dollars ($90.00) per day, and effective May 1, 2009, one hundred dollars ($100.00) per day seven (7) days per week shall be paid. To qualify for living out allowance on weekends, the employee must work the last scheduled shift prior to the weekend and the first scheduled shift following the weekend or statutory holiday. Where there is no camp accommodation, the employee may choose living out allowance or Employer-supplied accommodation plus meal allowance on a seven (7) days per week basis. The meal allowance shall be fifty dollars ($50.00) per day; effective May 1, 2007 the allowance shall increase to fifty-two dollars and fifty cents ($52.50) per day; and effective May 1, 2009 shall increase to fifty-five dollars ($55.00) per day.
Living Out Allowance. Where living out allowance is provided it is agreed that an amount of seventy dollars (70.00) per day, seven days a week shall be paid. If the living out allowance is increased for contractors signatory to Local 919 due to bargaining the Employer will match the increase to be determined.

Living Out Allowance. While an employee is attending vocational school on the basis set forth in 1., 2. and 3. above, his employer will pay him a living out allowance which, combined with any government living out allowance to which he may be entitled, is equal to the living out allowance he would receive from the appropriate government authorities as an apprentice, pursuant to section 14 of Exhibit "B." The purpose of the Deferred Overtime Plan is to enable employees to elect to receive additional compensating time off from work with pay in lieu of the additional one half time rate payment for work performed at the rate of time and one half or full-time rate payment for work performed at the rate of double time as provided in Section 26. 1. An employee who elects to participate in the plan shall notify the Human Resources department and sign a form authorizing his participation in the plan. The authorization shall be revocable at any time but once the employee withdraws from the plan he would not be eligible to rejoin the plan until the following September 1st. An employee who withdraws from the plan shall receive normal overtime payment from date of withdrawal. Hours accumulated shall be taken in accordance with subsections 4 and 5 2. Employees may bank overtime on any one of the following bases: a. bank the premium time for each overtime hour worked; or, b. bank the straight time for each overtime hour worked; or, c. bank both the premium and straight time for each overtime hour worked. 3. Deferred overtime hours shall be accumulated for each twelve (12) month period commencing September 1st. 4. Accumulated time off must be taken in multiples of one (1) hour. 5. Compensating time off not taken or arranged for by March 1st shall be paid out by the Company. a. The granting of compensating time off shall be subject to the staffing requirements as determined by the Company and at such time as quality and quantity of production will not be impaired. b. Allocation of regular vacation will receive priority. c. The employee shall request compensating time off at least ten (10) days in advance of the week in which the compensating time off is desired.
Living Out Allowance. On all projects that require room and board, the Employer and the Union shall negotiate acceptable provisions prior to the start of the project. The Employer agrees to provide employees on travel status (that is, employees who are away from their residence and reside in temporary quarters) with adequate room and board, or negotiate a cash living out allowance of not less than one hundred ($100.00) dollars per day. This amount increases to one hundred five ($105.00) dollars August 1, 2016 and to one hundred ten ($110.00) dollars August 1, 2017.
