Marine Chemists Certifications. Provide gas free certificates, “Safe for Workers, Safe for Hot Work” IAW 29 CFR 1915.14 (OSHA – Confined and Enclosed Spaces and Other Dangerous Atmospheres in Shipyard Employment) for all areas requiring access, burning or welding as required by the work tasks within the PWS. Provide a Component Person to maintain the vessel in compliance with the Marine Chemist Certificate and OSHA rules for the duration the vessel is located in the Contractor’s Shipyard. Marine Chemists shall recertify the vessel for all ongoing hot work permits in the event of vessel movement, changes in loading condition, spillage of any combustible liquid or other event which voids the currently issued gas free certificate. Inspections conducted by a Competent Person for the purpose of recertification will not be acceptable.
