MATH AND SCIENCE. (Applied Math, Applied Physics, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Health and Human Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Data Science) – Students must meet all the above requirements for ▇▇▇▇▇▇, plus successfully complete Cell Biology and Evolution (BIOL 21), General Chemistry 1 (CHEM 11), General Chemistry 2 (CHEM 12) and Calculus I (Math 7) with a grade of “B” or better at Santa ▇▇▇▇▇▇ College in each course.
MATH AND SCIENCE. (a) It is imperative that any effort to close the achievement gap of marginalized students include an emphasis in knowledge and skills for the fields of study that provide the most advantageous opportunities for career success. (b) A math and science emphasis does not preclude students from pursuing other subjects of interest. The proliferation of goods, products, services, etc., that are developed, enhanced, or dependent on math and science-related industry into our daily human experience is requiring at least a basic understanding of math and science-related knowledge and problem-solving skills. RCLA will focus on the application of math and science concepts and problem-solving strategies to the neighborhood community where the students reside. This focus, combined with the interaction of teachers, community leaders, caregivers and other social agencies will develop a sense of community ownership and empowerment among students.
