Mentoring Stipend. The District retains the discretion to assign mentors which assignments are subject to acceptance on a voluntary basis. Each mentor shall be paid according to Category II of Schedule B and must meet a minimum of thirty (30) hours of mentor activities and attend any required training outlined below: 1. The mentor activities must meet a minimum requirement of thirty (30) hours of additional time. Mentors are encouraged to provide support throughout the school year. 2. Mentors may be required to attend up to 2 days of mentor training outside of the regular work year (maximum of 10 hours) and may be required each year a teacher serves in the mentor capacity. 3. The only time mentors can count towards the minimum thirty (30) hours is time outside of the mentor’s regularly scheduled work time, however, mentoring may occur on their duty-free lunch or during prep time. Release time used for classroom observations shall count toward the minimum thirty (30) hour requirement. 4. Mentors and mentees shall keep a log of their activities per District protocol. For those teachers who are submitting their activities for SCECHs, the teachers will be required to follow district timelines for submission. 5. The log should be completed on or before June 1st and forwarded to the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Instruction or Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Instruction at Central Office. The log will be used to validate mentor session time.
