Common use of MERIT INCREMENT Clause in Contracts

MERIT INCREMENT. (1) The Company shall have the discretion to pay merit increment to staff members who have shown meritorious performance based on their annual performance appraisals. The Company shall inform staff members of their performance ratings. The performance ratings and the criteria used shall be defined by the Company and be consistently applied for the duration of this Agreement. (2) Where the merit increment is paid as a salary increase and affects the salary progression of an individual staff member to the maximum point of his salary range, the merit increment payable shall not be more than the upgrading increment payable in his grade.
