Mileage and Insurance Coverage. Any teacher who is authorized to use his/her car on official school business shall be compensated at the current Internal Revenue Service’s allowable mileage rate. Further, the Board shall provide insurance to cover the teacher in the event of an automobile accident. Authorization for the teacher to use his/her car on official school business must be obtained in advance from the teacher's principal or other appropriate administrator (such as the athletic director in the case of a coach transporting student athletes).
