Minimum Necessary Standard. Pursuant to 45 CFR §164.502(b); §164.514(d): The Business Associate shall make reasonable efforts to limit the use and disclosure of Protected Health Information to the minimum necessary to accomplish the intended purpose of the use or disclosure. The Business Associate must limit access to those persons within its workforce, agents or subcontractors who are authorized and need the information in order to carry out their duties, and provide access only to the category of information that is required.
