Modalities of a ceasefire. Article 1 is divided into three sub-‐headings, namely, “Military operations”, “Separation of forces” and “Freedom of movement”. Under each of the sub-‐headings there are several sub-‐ sections that spell out in considerable detail the modalities that, when taken in total, give practical effect to a cessation of hostilities, which is one of the twin objectives of the CFA as mentioned earlier. A close study of Article 1 brings out a number of important matters.
