NATURE AND TIMING OF PROPOSED TREATY ACTIONS. The Agreement Establishing the ASEAN – Australia – New Zealand Free Trade Area (AANZFTA) was signed by New Zealand in February 2009. AANZFTA will enter into force on 1 July 2009 provided that New Zealand, Australia and at least four ASEAN countries have notified the completion of necessary domestic procedures by that date. If AANZFTA does not enter into force on 1 July 2009, it will enter into force 60 days after the date by which New Zealand, Australia and at least four ASEAN countries have made such notifications. The Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) with the Philippines on Labour Cooperation and Environmental Cooperation were signed before the AANZFTA and will enter into force following an exchange of notes indicating completion of the relevant domestic requirements for such instruments.
