Environmental cooperation. Recognizing the importance of cooperation on trade-related aspects of environmental policies in order to achieve the objectives of this Agreement, the Parties commit to initiating and developing cooperative activities as set out in Annex 19A.
Environmental cooperation. The Parties recognise that the way to improve environmental protection is to introduce appropriate environmental legislation, implement it effectively and integrate it into other policy areas. The main objective of environmental cooperation is to enhance the prospects of sustainable economic growth and social development by placing a high priority on respect for the natural environment including:
(a) the drafting of an effective environment protection policy involving appropriate legislative measures and the resources needed to implement it. Proper implementation of these measures will be essential in helping put an end to illegal logging activities. Such a policy will also encompass training, capacity building and the transfer of appropriate environmental technology;
(b) cooperation in the development of sustainable and nonpolluting energy sources, as well as solutions to urban and industrial pollution problems;
(c) refraining from activities harmful to the environment, especially in regions with fragile ecosystems, while developing tourism as a sustainable source of revenue;
(d) environmental impact assessment, which is a vital element in the preparation and implementation of any reconstruction or development project;
(e) close cooperation to achieve the objectives of environmental agreements to which both Parties are signatories;
(f) particular priority and initiatives for the conservation of existing primary forests and for the sustainable development of new forest resources.
Environmental cooperation. The two sides agree to adopt the following measures with a view to further strengthening cooperation in the environmental industry:
1. Strengthen exchanges and communication in the area of cooperation in the environmental industry.
2. Exchange information relating to the formulation and enforcement of laws and regulations in respect of the environmental industry.
3. Enhance cooperation in training, organising visits, etc.
4. Strengthen cooperation between the two places in the environmental industry by various means including organising trade exhibitions, seminars, etc.
5. Explore cooperation proposals to further facilitate business operations in order to support the development of the environmental industry of the two places.
6. Support and assist semi-official organisations, non-official organisations and the trade to play a part in promoting environmental cooperation between the two places.
Environmental cooperation. 1. Recognising that there is a close link between social deprivation and environmental degradation, the Parties under- take to cooperate in the environmental field with the aim of enhancing the prospects for achieving sustainable economic growth and social development, placing a high priority on respect for the natural environment.
2. Particular attention will be paid to:
(a) reducing risks from the environment in disaster prone areas and/or to offer better protection against such risks and fighting against soil degradation;
(b) developing an effective environment policy providing appropriate legislative measures and resources to imple- ment it. This will encompass training, capacity building and the transfer of appropriate environmental technology;
(c) cooperating in the development of sustainable and non- polluting energy sources, as well as solutions to urban and industrial pollution problems;
(d) avoiding activities which damage the environment (espe- cially areas with a fragile eco-system), while developing tourism as a sustainable source of revenue;
(e) environmental impact assessment, as an essential part of reconstruction and development projects in all fields, at both the preparation and the implementation stages;
(f) seeking close cooperation in the achievement of the objec- tives of multilateral environmental agreements to which both are party.
Environmental cooperation. Buyer and Seller covenant with each other that they shall cooperate fully with each other and act in good faith in implementing this Article 13. Buyer and Seller agree that the performance required by the covenant set forth in the preceding sentence shall include, but not be limited to: (a) providing to the other timely notice of all potential Environmental Liabilities that they believe are covered under this Article 13 about which they become aware; (b) sharing with the other in a timely manner all material non-privileged correspondence received from any third party that is relevant to such potential Environmental Liabilities; (c) affording the other timely access to and an opportunity to comment on (both draft and final versions) any material non-privileged correspondence to third parties, non-privileged study protocols and results, drawings, charts, data, field notes and remediation workplans or reports, or other non-privileged documentation relating to such Environmental Liabilities; (d) providing the other with timely notice of and an opportunity to attend and participate in any meetings or hearings with governmental bodies or courts relating to any Environmental Liabilities that they believe are covered under this Article 13, subject to the permission or consent of such governmental bodies or courts, if required; (e) preparing all material strategies and plans in consultation with each other; (f) consulting with each other to ensure that any work under this Article 13 is performed in a workmanlike and cost-effective manner; (g) negotiating access agreements and scheduling all work to be performed so as to minimize any unreasonable cost and inconvenience to each other; and (h) performing all work under this Article 13 in accordance with all applicable SH&E Laws or related Legal Requirements.
Environmental cooperation. 1. The Parties recognize the importance of strengthening capacity to protect the environment and to promote sustainable development in concert with strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations. The Parties are committed to undertaking cooperative environmental activities pursuant to a United States – Oman Memorandum of Understanding on Environmental Cooperation developed by the Parties, and in other fora.
2. Each Party shall seek opportunities for its citizens to participate in the development and implementation of cooperative environmental activities, such as through the use of public-private partnerships.
3. The Parties also recognize the ongoing importance of current and future environmental cooperation that may be undertaken outside this Agreement.
4. Each Party shall, as it deems appropriate, share information with the other Party and the public regarding its experience in assessing and taking into account the positive and negative environmental effects of trade agreements and policies.

Environmental cooperation. 1. The Parties recognize the need to take full account of environmental protection as an integral part of economic and development cooperation. Moreover, they underline the importance of environmental issues and sustainable development and assert their will to establish cooperation in protecting and improving the environment with particular emphasis on water, soil and air pollution, erosion, deforestation and sustainable management of natural resources, taking into account the work done in international fora.
2. Particular attention will be paid to:
(a) the protection and conservation of natural forests and their sustainable management development and measures against soil erosion;
(b) the importance of the energy/environment linkage;
(c) the finding of practical and efficient solutions to rural energy problems;
(d) the protection of the urban environment;
(e) the prevention and mitigation of industrial pollution;
(f) the impact of tourism on the environment.
Environmental cooperation. 1. The Parties agree to work together to provide leadership in the areas of environment and sustainable development by giving priority to the promotion of information exchange and joint cooperation related to transboundary environmental impacts in accordance with the Agreement Concerning Transboundary Environmental Impacts between the Government of Ontario and the Gouvernement du Québec; and
2. The Parties agree to work together, co-operatively and with other provinces, territories and states, to provide leadership in the areas of environment and sustainable development by giving priority to the development of a regional greenhouse gas emissions trading system, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Ontario and the Government of Québec concerning a Provincial-Territorial Cap and Trade Initiative and the proposed design principles of the Western Climate Initiative, and that seeks to align with the emerging North American system, to facilitate the transition to a low carbon economy and to encourage technological innovation, economic growth and job creation in the green economy.
Environmental cooperation. 1. The Parties recognize the importance of cooperation as a mechanism to implement this Chapter, enhance its benefits, and strengthen the joint and individual capabilities of the Parties to protect the environment and promote sustainable development, while strengthening their trade and investment relations.
2. Where possible and appropriate, the Parties shall seek to complement and make use of their existing cooperation mechanisms and take into consideration the relevant work of regional and international organizations.
3. Cooperation may take place through various means, such as dialogues, workshops, seminars, conferences, collaborative programs and projects, technical assistance to promote and facilitate cooperation and training, exchange of best practices in policies and procedures, and exchange of experts.
4. Environmental cooperation will be carried out through the design and approval of special programs, which may include areas such as
(a) Sustainable development objectives;
(b) Access to information, participation and justice in environmental matters;
(c) Climate change;
(d) Biodiversity, conservation of natural resources and protected areas
(e) Management of chemical substances and waste;
(f) Air quality;
(g) Water management and quality;
(h) Conservation of marine and coastal edge biodiversity and pollution control
(i) Environmental evaluation and inspection;
(j) Environmental education;
(k) Renewable energy and energy efficiency, and rc) Other areas as agreed by the Parties.
5. Such cooperation will take into account the environmental priorities and needs of each Party, as well as the resources available. The financing of cooperation activities will be decided by the Parties on a case-by-case basis.
6. The Parties shall make available to the public the information regarding the projects and activities they carry out in accordance with this Chapter.
