Notice of Retirement Required – Penalty. In order to receive the full severance benefit, the employee must present written notice to the Human Resources Department as follows: ▪ April 15 – if the employee is retiring at the end of the school year. ▪ 60 days before the effective date of retirement – if the employee is retiring during the school year. A $10.00 per day penalty will be subtracted from the severance for every day the notice does not meet the above requirements. At the discretion of the Superintendent or designee, the written notice requirement may be waived in the event of a medical condition or a family emergency.
