Observer Notification Requirements in the US/CA Resource Management Area. Members are exempt from the requirement to notify the observer program at least 72 hours prior to entering the Western US/CA area, only while fishing on an A DAS. Members wishing to fish in the B regular DAS program are still required to notify NMFS 72 hours in advance. All other requirements (reporting, VMS) are maintained. Members electing to enter the Eastern US/CA area are still obligated to comply with the observer notification requirements.
