Opening to Traffic. For normal strength patches, do not open the repaired area to traffic until the concrete has obtained a minimum compressive strength of 3,000 pounds per square inch, when tested according to PTM No. 604.

All compressive strength concrete test cylinders shall be made and tested in accordance with ASTM 1435 and AASHTO T22. However, limited automobile and light truck traffic may be allowed on the RCC as soon as the concrete is sufficiently cured to prevent significant marring. No permanent traffic will be allowed on the pavement until construction of the joints, including all sawing, sealing, and curing that is required, has been completed.

Opening to Traffic. Prior to opening a milled area to traffic, the milled surface shall be thoroughly swept with a mechanical sweeper to remove all remaining xxxxxxxx and dust. This operation shall be conducted in a manner so as to minimize the potential for creation of a traffic hazard and to comply with local, State, and Federal air pollution control laws and regulations. Any damage to vehicular traffic as a result of milled material becoming airborne is the responsibility of the Contractor and shall be repaired at the Contractor’s expense.
