OTHER DUTIES PERFORMED Clause Samples

The "Other Duties Performed" clause defines the requirement for an employee or contractor to carry out tasks beyond those specifically listed in their job description or contract. In practice, this clause allows an employer to assign additional responsibilities as needed, such as covering for absent colleagues or taking on new projects that arise during employment. Its core function is to provide flexibility for the employer to adapt job roles to changing business needs, ensuring that necessary work is completed even if it falls outside the original scope of duties.
OTHER DUTIES PERFORMED. Unless an emergency exists, an educational support employee will not be required to perform duties that would otherwise be performed by a public safety officer (for example: guarding a student in custody, accompanying a student suspected of a crime to interrogation, opening lockers suspected of containing dangerous materials). Unless, in the opinion of the principal, there is an emergency, operations employees, bus drivers, bus assistants, and secretaries will not be required to supervise students in the classroom. Unless an emergency exists, educational support employees will not be required to transport students in their own vehicles. Where available, school-based health personnel will provide primary health-related services to students. When unavailable, educational support staff may be asked to perform health-related services to students. The Board will offer training to support staff in compliance with state law.
