OTHER DUTIES PERFORMED. Unless an emergency exists, an educational support employee will not be required to perform duties that would otherwise be performed by a public safety officer (for example: guarding a student in custody, accompanying a student suspected of a crime to interrogation, opening lockers suspected of containing dangerous materials). Unless, in the opinion of the principal, there is an emergency, operations employees, bus drivers, bus assistants, and secretaries will not be required to supervise students in the classroom. Unless an emergency exists, educational support employees will not be required to transport students in their own vehicles. Where available, school-based health personnel will provide primary health-related services to students. When unavailable, educational support staff may be asked to perform health-related services to students. The Board will offer training to support staff in compliance with state law.
