Owner’s Right to Stop Work. If the Contractor fails to correct Work which is not in accordance with requirements of the Contract Documents or persistently fails to carry out Work in accordance with the Contract Documents, the Owner may order the Contractor to stop work or any portion thereof until the cause of such order has been eliminated. Such an order must be in writing.

If the Private Entity or Contractor fails to correct Work which that is not in accordance with the requirements of the Contract Documents or persistently repeatedly fails to carry out Work in accordance with the Contract Documents, the Owner may issue a written order to the Private Entity or Contractor to stop work the Work, or any portion thereof thereof, until the cause of for such order has been eliminated. Such an order must be in writing; however, the right of the Owner to stop the Work shall not give rise to a duty on the part of the Owner to exercise this right for the benefit of the Private Entity, Contractor or any other person or entity.
