Parameters of interest. ‌ The main parameter of interest for this monitoring study is water temperature. The Lower Yakima River, WRIA 37, is listed as impaired for water temperature on Washington State’s list of impaired waterbodies under Section 303d of the Clean Water Act (Category 5 temperature Listing ID: 8311). Additionally, this study will measure substrate characteristics in the side channel, stage, flow, and, as a separate effort (not supported with Ecology funds), will partner with others to assess current fish utilization of the area. Groundwater elevations will be estimated through spring water depths and existing well levels where possible.
