Pay Change Upon Promotion or Reclassification. An Employee who is promoted within the bargaining unit or whose position is reclassified upward will be placed on the lowest step in the new range which provides them a minimum of seven (7) percent increase, except that an employee will not be paid in excess of the top of the new pay grade. EXAMPLE: An employee earning $40,000 would be placed on the step in the new pay range equal to $42,800 or, if there is not a step paying $42,800, to the first step I Immediately greater than $42,800.
