Reclassification of Position. An employee shall not have her salary reduced by reason of a change in the classification of her position that is caused other than by the employee herself.
Reclassification of Position. An employee in a position reclassified to a lower classification shall have the right of either: (1) transferring to a vacant position in his/her present classification in the same or another department, provided the head of the department into which the transfer is proposed agrees, or (2) continuing in the same position in the lower classification at a "Y" rate of pay when the incumbent's pay is higher than the maximum step of the salary range for the lower classification.

When a position is reclassified with a significant change in the job duties and is assigned a higher pay range, the Employee in that classification shall be placed in the new pay range at a salary not more than five percent (5%) greater than the Employee’s current salary, which is considered a promotion, or the bottom of the new pay range, whichever is greater. If the change in salary range is a pay adjustment with no significant change in job duties, the Employee in that classified position shall be placed in the new pay range at the same step within the range.

(b) Effective January 1, 1990, an employee who exercises his/her seniority rights to occupy a higher paying term certain or summer position, is deemed to be substituting for pay only and when returning to his/her former position, will revert to the wage rate for that former position.
(c) The employee shall continue to receive 50% of the negotiated salary increases applicable to the employee's new classification until the salary of the employee's new classification equals or exceeds the salary which the employee is receiving.
