PAY DECREASE ON DEMOTION. When an employee moves to a lower-rated position because of bidding or a reduction in force, he/she will receive a maximum seven percent (7%) decrease for a one (1) grade downward movement plus a maximum four percent (4%) decrease for each additional one (1) grade downward movement. These decreases will not be compounded and are not to exceed the Scale Maximum or fall below the Hiring Minimum.
