Peer Services. A peer specialist is an individual with lived experience who has initiated his/her own recovery journey and assists others who are in earlier stages of the recovery process. Peer services are support services that help clients engage in and benefit from the full array of services provided by the HCC including mental health and substance use treatment. This may also include peer-delivered services such as independent living skills trainings, recovery oriented services, supportive housing services, and/or supported employment or job training.
