Placement When Demoted. 15.8.1 A unit member who requests a voluntary demotion, or is demoted due to discipline, shall be placed on the step of the range of the lower class which is calculated by a 1% decrease for each range below the original range. If the decrease falls between steps, then the decrease will be placed at the lower level. The unit member shall retain the July 1 step advance date established in the higher class.
