Common use of Positions Outside the Unit Clause in Contracts

Positions Outside the Unit. Employees who accept positions outside the bargaining unit may accumulate unit seniority for a period not to exceed one hundred and eighty (180) calendar days after the date of leaving the unit. If during this one hundred and eighty (180) calendar day period the employee is laid off or desires voluntarily to return to his/her former position and prevailing pay rate, the employee shall have the right to exercise seniority to the former positions or a substantially equivalent position of employment.
