Common use of Preliminary Proceedings Concerning the Fitness of a Faculty Member Clause in Contracts

Preliminary Proceedings Concerning the Fitness of a Faculty Member. When reason arises to question the fitness of a faculty member whose appointment has not expired, the immediate administrator shall discuss the matter with her/him in personal conference. The matter may be terminated by mutual consent at this point. If an adjustment does not result within ten (10) days after having been so informed, the faculty member and a representative of her/his own choosing will be afforded an opportunity to meet with the College President or her/his designee and the immediate administrator. At this preliminary meeting, which shall be deemed an informal settlement negotiation for purposes of RCW 34.05, an adjustment may be mutually agreed upon. If the matter is not settled or adjusted to the satisfaction of the College President, s/he shall recommend that the faculty member be dismissed.
