Common use of Prior to January 1, 1991 Clause in Contracts

Prior to January 1, 1991. Full-time faculty members retiring from the District shall be entitled to the benefits for themselves and their dependents provided above in Section 2 - Health Insurance; Section 3 - Dental Insurance; and Section 4 - Vision care. Eligible faculty shall have been employed in a regular or contract position before January 1, 1991, shall have reached their fifty-fifth (55th) birthday, and shall have served five (5) consecutive years in the District prior to retirement. The retired faculty member will participate in the same coverage and make the same premium contributions as active unit members. Retiring from the District means retiring into the STRS or PERS system upon severance from the District. Retirees eligible for Medicare must enroll in Medicare Part A and/or Part B when eligible at which time the District benefits become secondary coverage.
