Procedures for External Search and Appointment. (i) The Per Course Selection Committee shall determine by majority decision the requirements for the position in accordance with Article 11.09 (b) and (c), and the supporting documents required of candidates who wish to be considered for the position. The Chair shall communicate these requirements to Human Resources which shall generate and post advertisements in accordance with Article 11.10 (b) and 10.52(b). (ii) With reference to the criteria in Article 11.09, the Per Course Selection Committee shall establish a shortlist of no more than three (3) candidates which shall be made available to the members of the Department(s). Members of the Department(s) who wish to comment on the short list drawn up by the Per Course Selection Committee shall have two (2) working days from the time of distribution of the list to make their views known to the Per Course Selection Committee. The Per Course Selection Committee shall then finalize the short list which shall be redistributed to the members of the Department(s) and copies thereof provided to the Xxxx(s), the Vice-President (Academic), and the President of the Association. (iii) The Head shall arrange for telephone interviews of all short-listed candidates. Interviews shall be conducted by the Per Course Selection Committee. (iv) In keeping with the principle of employment equity in Article 3.20, when two (2) or more candidates are otherwise equal and one (1) of the groups specified in Article 3.20 is under- represented within the Academic Unit, preference shall be given to the candidate from the under-represented group identified in that case. (v) The Per Course Selection Committee shall only recommend those persons who are eligible to work in Canada. (vi) The Per Course Selection Committee shall make a recommendation to the Academic Unit(s) with a rationale in accordance with the criteria in Article 11.
