Credit for Experience. 33.01 Credit for nursing experience will be credited on the following basis: (a) The Employer will credit a newly hired regular full-time nurse with one (1) annual service increment for each completed year of related experience up to the after eight (8) years step of the salary grid and credit a regular part-time nurse, up to the after twelve thousand (12,000) hours step, based on substantiated hours worked. (b) If there has been a break in excess of two years in the nurses’ full-time or part-time employment, then the number of increments to be provided shall be at the discretion of the Employer. 33.02 In order to receive credit for experience it is the nurse’s responsibility to provide the Employer with verification satisfactory to the Employer, of previous related experience during her probationary period. Should a nurse fail to provide such satisfactory verification during her probation she shall forfeit the provisions of this Article. 33.03 Once established consistent with the above provisions, credit for recent related experience will be retroactive to the new nurses date of hire. 33.04 Nurses on staff prior to the signing of this agreement, will be credited with experience as set out under this Article, effective the first full pay period following the date the Employer has confirmed entitlement to such increment, subject to 33.02 above.

Credit for Experience. New employees with zero (0), one (1), or two (2) years of teaching experience at the time of employment shall be placed at step 3 on the Total Salary Schedule. Credit for formal teaching experience and/or relevant applicable work experience may be allowed upon initial employment or return to the District from a non-leave status, to a maximum of twenty (20) years. Other adjustments to experience credit may be made for experience directly related to the employee's teaching assignment, at the time of initial employment or return to the District from a non-leave status, by the appropriate director. New employees, at the time of employment, shall not be contracted for a salary greater than that of a presently employed teacher whose training and experience are evaluated as being equal. Credit for such experience shall not exceed Step 21 on the Total Salary Schedule. The minimum period of service to qualify for one (1) full year of teaching experience credit shall be ninety-four (94) service days in a paid status under an Iowa Code Chapter 279 contract of employment or equivalent contract issued by another state.
Credit for Experience. The School District may allow up to seven (7) years of outside experience (Michigan certification or equivalent) when determining the salary of an experienced teacher who comes to the system from another District.
Credit for Experience. 1. Newly employed teachers will receive the equivalent year's credit for each year of experience. The experience granted will be equal to the FTE experience for each year worked. This credit will be granted if, in the judgment of the Superintendent, the teaching experience has been appropriate to the position which has been offered. For example, teaching experience at the secondary level may not be appropriate if the applicant is being considered for an elementary position. Teachers cannot be placed any higher than the highest step of the appropriate lane on the salary schedule. 2. The Superintendent or his/her designee may evaluate work experience outside the field of education and grant schedule credit in the same manner as permitted for school teaching experience. Teachers may be granted up to two years of schedule credit for military experience.

It is the nurse’s responsibility to provide the Employer with written documentation as verification of her previous experience so that her or his recent related experience may be evaluated by the Employer during her or his probationary period. Once established consistent with this provision, credit for recent related experience will be retroactive to the full-time nurse’s date of hire. Having established the recent related experience, the Employer will credit a new nurse with one (1) annual service increment for each completed year of experience up to the maximum of the salary grid. Once established consistent with this provision, credit for recent related experience will be retroactive to the regular part time, temporary or casual nurse’s date of hire. Having established the recent related experience, the Employer will credit a new nurse with one (1) annual service increment for each completed year of experience up to the maximum of the salary grid calculated as set out under Article 18.01 a and b). If a period of more than two (2) years has elapsed since the nurse has occupied a full-time or a part-time nursing position, then the number of increments to be paid, if any, shall be at the discretion of the Employer. The Employer may also give effect to part-time nursing experience in special circumstances.
Credit for Experience. Bargaining unit members employed half-time or more shall be granted a year of credit provided they work at least 120 days during the school year. Bargaining unit members employed less than half-time shall be granted a half year of credit provided they work at least 120 days during the school year. Adjustments for experience credit shall be made in July of each year.
Credit for Experience. Full credit up to and including step eight may be given for previous teaching experience gained within the past ten years. Additional credit may be given at the discretion of the Board.

Credit for Experience. If the District decides to offer a contract to a person who has previously served as a substitute teacher in the District then credit for substitute experience may be applied on the salary schedule as follows: subbed for at least 120 days = 1 year; subbed for at least 240 days = 2 years. If the Board determines that it is appropriate to do so based upon the availability of applicants for a position, the Board may place a newly hired employee on any step up to and including step 6 based on his/her comparable work experience. Upon initial employment credit up to and including the eleventh (11th) step of the appropriate salary lane on the employee salary schedule shall be given for previous outside teaching experience in a duly accredited school. Total credit shall not exceed ten (10) years.

Credit for Experience. Beginning the 2000-01 school year, teachers hired with previous experience earned in employment within the AFSCME Council 5, Student Support Specialist, and whose work directly supported student instruction through contact with students and families shall be credited at the rate of one (1) year credit for each two (2) full years of employment in the district up to a maximum of five (5) years credit provided this experience is gained within the past ten (10) years.
