Professional Development Credits Sample Clauses
The Professional Development Credits clause establishes the terms under which individuals or employees can earn, use, or be awarded credits for participating in professional development activities. Typically, this clause outlines what types of training, courses, or educational events qualify for credits, how credits are tracked, and any limits or requirements for their use, such as applying them toward certifications or career advancement. Its core function is to incentivize ongoing learning and skill enhancement, ensuring that participants remain up-to-date in their field and that organizations can track and encourage professional growth.
Professional Development Credits. (a) Professional Development Credit(s) may be awarded for • Completion of professional workshops, seminars and undergraduate or non-credit courses. • Completion of a course, program, seminar or workshop for which Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are awarded. The CEUs must be recognized or awarded by a professional association or state licensing or credentialing agency. • Completion of a master class taught by a recognized professional or master in the faculty member’s discipline; ordinarily master classes are appropriate for faculty members in fine and performing arts disciplines.
(b) A Professional Development Credit (PDC) may be used in lieu of graduate study for up to 60 percent of the additional credit hours required for lane movement. Approval to exceed the 60 percent limit may be granted upon recommendation of the appropriate ▇▇▇▇ and approval by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
(c) PDCs may not be used to replace a required graduate degree or to determine initial placement on the salary schedule.
(d) In all cases Professional Development Credits must contribute directly to a faculty member’s professional qualifications or to other institutional responsibilities of the faculty member. Faculty must submit a PDC Completion Form within sixty (60) days (excluding the summer term) of the conclusion of the eligible activity to the appropriate ▇▇▇▇. A committee composed of academic deans and an equal number of faculty will meet one time a semester or as needed to review and approve PDC’s based on guidelines that have been developed by the committee.
(e) PDCs will be awarded on this scale: 3-6 contact hours .25 PDC credits 7-10 contact hours .50 PDC credits 11-14 contact hours .75 PDC credits 15-18 contact hours 1.00 PDC credits
(f) Up to two (2) PDCs may be carried over from one lane change to the next; no additional banking of PDC credits will be permitted.
Professional Development Credits. Under the Education Reform Act, teachers are required to renew their license every five

If a SHRM member who relies on Transcripts is seeking Professional Development Credits for attending an event or program for which SHRM has agreed to provide such Transcripts, then the thirty (30) day timeline to request those Professional Development Credits will begin on the date they receive such Transcripts. In the public-facing portion of SHRM’s Accommodation Policy, SHRM will inform members and customers that they may request this extension.
