Professional Development Grants Sample Clauses
Professional Development Grants. Graduate students may use these grants to cover travel expenses, room and board, materials, equipment, childcare, and any other expenses related to their professional development. Each student may be awarded up to $1500 each year to cover costs related to their professional development, distributed on a rolling basis.
Professional Development Grants. 35.01 The Board shall annually budget the sum of twelve thousand dollars ($12,000.00) for Professional Development Grants for teachers taking professional courses with prior approval of the Registrar and Director.
35.02 Verification before November 15 of successful completion of a course shall constitute an application for the grant. The verification shall be forwarded by the teacher to the Director.
35.03 On or about December 1, the amount of each grant shall be determined by dividing the total amount available for Professional Development Grants by the number of applications received pursuant to Article 35.02.
35.04 Notwithstanding Article 35.03, no one (1) grant for any one (1) course in any school year shall exceed the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for one full credit and five hundred dollars ($500.00) for one half credit or the actual cost of tuition, whichever is the lesser.
35.05 For the purposes of this Article, a one-half (1/2) course shall constitute one-half (1/2) an application. The payment for a one-half (1/2) course shall be equal to one-half (1/2) of the grant determined pursuant to Articles 35.03 and 35.04.
35.06 Professional Development Grants shall not be paid for courses taken pursuant to Article 23 - Educational Leave.
35.07 The Board shall annually provide on or before September 15, the President/ Co-ordinator of each Sub-Local of the Union with a general account statement relating to the expenditures under this Article.
Professional Development Grants. Subject to the established budget of the Committee shall pay reasonable expenses for teachers who take courses for the purpose of upgrading their professional qualifications or improving their professional practice.
Professional Development Grants. The Board agrees to contribute to the tuition expenses, as authorized by the Committee, of teachers who audit or complete courses for the purpose of improving their professional abilities and qualifications. To qualify for a professional development grant, the teacher must be under contract with the Board as of the beginning and ending date of the course. Tuition receipts and a copy of a transcript verifying completion of a course submitted to the Committee shall constitute an application. The in-service education portion of the Fund as budgeted by the Committee will be used by a joint committee of equal representatives of the Union’s Professional Committee and the Board to help defray a portion of the costs identified by the joint committee in organizing:

17.1 The Employer shall provide the sum of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) in each year of the agreement for Bargaining Unit Employees taking job related credit courses, provincial in- services conferences and seminars commenced and successfully completed while in the employ of the Regional Centre for Education. Unused portions of the fund will be carried forward for one year for the sole purpose of providing substitutes for Employees of the permanent bargaining unit, for approved PD grants. Funds that are carried over that remain unused are not carried over in any subsequent years. This money will be allotted on a first come, first serve basis until depleted. All applications will follow the procedures outlined by the PD Guidelines.
17.2 The employer agrees to provide employees with in-service training opportunities, which are relative to their work, on designated district in-service days. Where operational requirements permit, Library staff will be permitted time off with pay in order to attend training sessions that may arise outside of regular in-service days, provided that the training sessions are relative to the employee's profession.
Professional Development Grants. 17.01 The Employer shall provide the sum of five thousand dollars ($5000) in each year of the agreement for Bargaining Unit Employees taking job related credit courses commenced and successfully completed while in the employ of the Board. All applications for funds under this Article must be submitted by September 30th to the Director of Human Resources and must be supported by receipts and a statement proving successful completion of the course. On or before October 30th, the funds shall be paid to those Bargaining Unit Employees who have verified successful completion of the course. Payment to other applicants shall be paid upon verification of successful completion of the course. If the amount of funds requested through this Article is greater than the maximum amount available, it shall be paid to the applicants on a pro-rated basis.
17.02 The Board agrees to provide, on a pro-rated basis, an amount of five thousand dollars ($5000) each year in the budget to enable Bargaining Unit Employees to attend the annual provincial in- service conference that would include registration fees, plus an allowance for expenses.
17.03 Upon approval of the immediate Supervisor, and a written request by a Bargaining Unit Employee, the Board may grant permission for an Employee to attend, without loss of pay, seniority or benefits, one additional seminar or conference directly related to their job, provided the total cost in any one budget year for all Bargaining Unit Employees does not exceed five thousand dollars ($5000). The funds will be allocated on a pro-rated basis.

Professional Development Grants. It is understood that funding for professional development will not be included in the revised cost request for this agreement. The University will make every effort to insure that the Governor will file a separate supplemental appropriation request to support professional development activities at the University. When and if such an appropriation is approved by the Legislature, the parties will meet to agree upon the standards and process for the distribution of professional development funds to unit members.
