Professional Education Requirements. To enroll in professional education courses at the 300 level or above students must earn Candidacy in Education, which includes achieving some specific course grades (see note on page 4), completing all required practica with satisfactory professional dispositions, and having a 2.75 GPA overall in UMF courses. Prior to Student Teaching and for teacher certification, students in the Early Childhood Special Education Program Birth to 5 must: • complete all required UMF professional education courses with grades of B- or higher, • achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher, and • be fingerprinted and have a Criminal History Record Check.
