Professional Teaching Positions. 13.2.1 A limited number of appointments made on or after July 1, 2012, may be designated as Professional Teaching Positions. The primary expectations of Members in these positions will be demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, educational innovation, scholarship, and service to the University and the academic community. A Professional Teaching Position may be made in: (a) departments and/or programs that provide instruction in professional fields or in applied knowledge and there is a need for such an appointment in order to enhance the quality of instruction through the non-academic professional experience and expertise of the appointee; and/or (b) departments and/or programs in which the total number of undergraduate registrations during the previous academic year exceeded 3,000 students
