NON-TEACHING DUTIES Sample Clauses

NON-TEACHING DUTIES. The Board and the Association acknowledge that a teacher's primary responsibility is to teach, and that his/her energies should be utilized to this end. It is agreed that teachers will be relieved of non-teaching duties to the extent possible and practical through the use of non-teaching personnel to perform clerical-type tasks and supervise playgrounds and lunchrooms.
NON-TEACHING DUTIES. The Board and the Association acknowledge that a teacher’s primary responsibility is to provide learning experiences and that his/her energies should be channeled into this responsibility to the fullest extent. Therefore, they agree that: 1) All full-time elementary teachers shall be provided with no less than one fifty (50) minute period per day exclusively for planning and preparation with exception to the shortened school day (Wednesday) plan- ning periods will be equal throughout the day. All full-time 6th Grade Academy, 7th and 8th Grade Academy, and high school teachers shall be provided with no less than one period per day exclusively for planning and preparation. All full-time ARJH teachers shall be provided with no less than one period per day exclusively for planning and preparation. All teachers who travel from one site to another in the same day as part of their teaching assignment, excluding coaches who travel for their sport, shall be given a minimum of twenty-five (25) minutes for travel. Non-teaching duties shall not be assigned to teachers who have both elementary and secondary teaching assignments in the same day. The time length of planning periods at the 6th Grade Academy, 7th and 8th Grade Academy, and high school high school and the junior high schools are determined by the length of a normal instructional class period. If the length of this period is changed the time for planning will also change. A Counselor, Teacher Trainer, ISP teacher, REIP teacher, or and Registered Nurse will not receive a planning period. T h e MEA President, ISP teacher, REIP teacher, and Registered Nurse will not be assigned duty. A Counselor may only be assigned a.m. duty. 2) Every effort will be made to assure that a teacher’s planning period is used for its intended purpose. 3) Every effort will be made to relieve and/or make equitable extra assignments to be performed before or after school, and, 4) Every effort will be made by administrators to assign assistants and clerical help to relieve teachers of non-teaching duties such as: a. Non-professional assignments, including but not limited to, milk distribution, supervision of cafeterias, sidewalks, bus loading, or unloading or playgrounds. b. Collecting money from students, and c. Inventorying and storing books, delivering books to classrooms, duplicating instructional and other materials, keeping registers and cumulative record cards and other clerical and/or custodial functions. 5) There will be unifo...
NON-TEACHING DUTIES. A. The COMMITTEE and the ASSOCIATION acknowledge that a teacher's primary responsibility is to teach and that his/her professional qualifications are best utilized in the conduct of teaching duties. The COMMITTEE and the ASSOCIATION also recognize, however, that a certain number of non-teaching duties exist. B. The COMMITTEE agrees that to the extent possible, clerical aides and paraprofessionals will be provided to perform non-teaching duties for teachers. The COMMITTEE or its designees may request teachers to perform these duties on a voluntary or on a stipend basis. C. The COMMITTEE agrees that teachers will not be required to supervise High School and Middle School cafeterias and lavatories. Non-teaching duties shall be assigned among all teachers in a building on a rotating roster basis. The non-teaching duties currently assigned are: When a teacher at the secondary level is assigned to cover a class for a teacher who is absent, that is considered to be a study hall assignment. D. The ASSOCIATION and COMMITTEE agree that the enumerating of attendance and the grading of students are integral parts of the teacher function; at the same time, they agree that the keeping of registers and the posting of other records will be performed by non-teaching personnel. E. It is agreed that, while it is necessary on occasion for teachers to collect money for non-educational purposes, teachers will not be required to tabulate or account for such money. F. The COMMITTEE agrees, within the space limitations with which it is confronted, that suitable office and working space will be provided for teachers. G. Teachers will not be required to drive pupils to activities, which take place away from the school building. Teachers may do so voluntarily, however, with the advance approval of their Principal or immediate supervisor.
NON-TEACHING DUTIES. 14.1 The Board and the Association recognize that a teacher’s primary responsibility is to teach and that the teachers’ energies should be utilized to that end. Within budgetary limitations, efforts should be made to reduce the non-student contact duties through the use of paraeducators and part-time clerical assistants so that the teacher will have more time to devote to teaching activities. 14.2 The District may employ paraeducators for the purpose of assisting teachers by performing secretarial or clerical duties; supervision of lunchrooms, playgrounds, halls or other non-instructional student activities; grading of objective-type tests; and preparation of instructional materials under the direct supervision of a teacher. 14.3 A paraeducator who has been selected and approved by the principal should be acceptable to the teacher or group of teachers to which the paraeducator is to be assigned. If the work of the paraeducator is found to be unsatisfactory, a teacher or group of teachers may request the principal and the teachers involved meet with the employee to review performance concerns. 14.4 When a principal is required to be absent from the District, another administrator will be designated to assume administrative responsibility for an administrative unit. 14.5 When a principal is required to be absent from the building, a teacher may decline to accept the responsibility of being designated “acting principal” during such absences.
NON-TEACHING DUTIES. L17.1 No Teacher shall be required to perform as part of that Teacher's regular duties any duties normally and regularly performed by members of the secretarial or custodial

Therefore, the Board agrees that teachers shall not be required to perform the following: hSchool cafeteria duty hBefore-and after-school playground duty hLunchtime playground duty hCollection of money for insurance, savings stamps, charities, and PTA dues hAccessioning library books hSchool-wide detention duty hLavatory duty hOffice duty hThe duplication of school-wide or departmental teaching materials. To eliminate problems within the school related to safety and/or discipline, the teachers and the principals will meet to develop a plan.
NON-TEACHING DUTIESThe Committee and the Association acknowledge that a teacher's primary responsibility is to teach and that his/her energies should, to the extent possible, be utilized to this end. Therefore, they agree as follows:
NON-TEACHING DUTIES. Part-time teachers may be assigned non-teaching duties proportionate to full-time teachers.
NON-TEACHING DUTIES. Non-teaching duties will be determined in conjunction with the building administrator(s) and job share teachers. The duty schedule will be proportional to the length of the teaching day. This will be included in the plan.
NON-TEACHING DUTIESThe District agrees to make every effort to reduce non teaching duties that do not best use a teacher’s presence and skills, through the use of teacher aides.
