Promotion Requirements. Section 1. A Firefighter must have a minimum of five (5) years completed service with the Cortland City Fire Department before becoming eligible to take a Captain/EMT or Captain/Medic test. Section 2. A Captain/EMT or Captain/Medic must have a minimum of ten (10) years of completed service with the Cortland City Fire Department and have a minimum of five (5) years of completed service as a Captain/EMT or Captain/Medic before becoming eligible to take the Assistant Chief's test. Section 3. The City shall provide one (1) set of books of reference as called for per promotional exam at least 45 days prior to the exam being rendered. The union agrees to bear the cost of a second set of books to match the ones purchased by the city, both sets shall remain within the Fire Department and be available to applicants on duty.

Promotion Requirements. (a) To establish eligibility to take the promotional examination for Lieutenant, a member shall be required to have five three (53) years of continuous service in the Tiverton Fire Department prior to the date of such examination. To establish eligibility to take a promotional examination for a position above the rank of Lieutenant, a member shall be required at least one (1) year of continuous service in the rank below which a member is testing for. (b) Members will be required to either be Certified Firefighter (NFPA 1001) Level 1 and 2 or be enrolled in an accredited Firefighter (NFPA 1002) Level 1 and 2 training program prior to testing for that rank of Lieutenant. (c) Lieutenants are required to obtain the certification of Fire Instructor (NFPA 1041) prior to promotion or as soon as reasonably possible after being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. (d) Lieutenants wishing to test for the rank of Captain will be required to obtain the certification of Fire Officer (NFPA 1021) prior to examination or be enrolled in an accredited Fire Officer (NFPA 1021) program prior to the date of said examination.
Promotion Requirements. Affiliate shall, and shall ensure that the Stations, at all times during the Term, abide by any and all requirements and restrictions pertaining to the promotion of the UCI Programming that UCI provides to Affiliate and any Affiliated Station that: (i) has the same network affiliation as the applicable Station; and (ii) is licensed to a DMA with a comparably sized Hispanic market share, if any, as the applicable Station, in each case in UCI’s sole discretion, in written notices delivered to Affiliate, at any time and from time to time (including, without limitation, on-the-air promotion, billboards, pay-television advertisements, printed advertisements). UCI shall provide to Affiliate all required materials, programming, and graphics related to such promotional requirements. For clarity, this Section 5(b) does not prohibit Affiliate (or any Station) from providing date and time information regarding UCI Programming to newspapers, guide channels, pay-television guides and other program listing services.

Any extension of a list beyond two years must be by mutual consent of the parties. No Officer may file a grievance because he or she was not selected as the successful applicant for promotion to Lieutenant.
