Common use of PROTECTION OF PUBLIC Clause in Contracts

PROTECTION OF PUBLIC. Protection of Public Where the Contract Works extend onto any area where any third party may have access (whether as a right or otherwise) both pedestrian and vehicle traffic shall be suitably protected from the Contract Works. Particular regard shall be given to guidance to include but not limited to the Health & Safety Executive Document HS (G) 151 "Protecting the Public" and such other guidance as may from time to time be published. In addition, there shall be compliance with the requirements of all relevant codes of practice to include but not limited to the Department of Transport Code of Practice "Safety Act Streets Works and Road Works" as amended from time to time and with current related legislation and safe working practices. The Contractor shall ensure that all necessary licences, approvals etc. for such works are obtained prior to any works commencing and shall notify and co-ordinate the same with the Company.
