Common use of Purpose of Catastrophic Leave Clause in Contracts

Purpose of Catastrophic Leave. The Catastrophic Leave Program is designed to assist regular employees, regardless of bargaining unit representation, who have exhausted paid time credits due to the employee’s or immediate family member’s serious or catastrophic illness or injury. This program allows other employees to donate time to the affected employee so that he/she can remain in a paid status for a longer period of time, thus partially reducing the financial impact of the illness or injury.
