Qualified Domestic Partner Defined. A qualified domestic partner is defined as the sole domestic partner, not related by blood, who live together in the same residence and intend to do so indefinitely. These individuals are engaged in a committed relationship of mutual caring and support and are jointly responsible for each other’s common welfare and expenses. Proof of interdependence includes at least three of the following: (1) common ownership of a vehicle; (2) common ownership of real property; (3) drivers’ licenses with common address; (4) proof of joint bank accounts or credit accounts; (5) designated primary beneficiary; and (6) assignment of durable power of attorney or living will.
