QUALITATIVE AND EFFECTIVENESS REVIEWS OF THE PUBLISHED AND GREY LITERATURE. 2.1 Overview The Contractor/s will undertake an evidence review based on a systematic search of published and unpublished quantitative and qualitative literature as well as policy reports on the provision of NSP to young people aged 18 years or less. The literature review will be used to delineate the profile and key risk behaviours among young PWID to draw out their implications on NSP provision. The systematic review will follow guidelines specified in the NICE methodologies (see the Methods Manual at xxxx://xxxxxxxxxxxx.xxxx.xxx.xx/methods-for-the-development-of-nice-public-health-guidance-third-edition-pmg4) and will be conducted in two stages. An initial mapping exercise will be performed to describe studies and to determine the geographic spread and extent of information on injecting drug use and young people under 18. The literature will be separated into: 1) quantitative studies; 2) qualitative studies; 3) policy documents. The literature review will be comprised of the following: Producing and submitting to the NICE Team a draft protocol for the mapping exercise and for the review, and a search protocol (or protocols) and strategy (or strategies). The draft review protocol(s) and subsequent search strategy/protocol are to be based on the final scope and the previous evidence reviews. The review protocol(s) should include the research questions and detailed methods (including the inclusion/exclusion criteria, quality appraisal and synthesis). Please see section 3.3 in the methods manual for further details on types of evidence reviews and section 3.4 for details development of an evidence review protocol. Please see chapter 4 and in particular section 4.2 in the methods manual for further details relating to searching. Please note that the NICE Team can, if required, request stakeholders to submit additional evidence suggestions which may be of relevance to the evidence review. Agreeing with the NICE Team the content of the mapping, review and search protocol/strategy (following consideration of the NICE Team comments) and finalising accordingly.
