Recognized Statutory Holidays. 9.2.1.1 The Following days are recognized as statutory holidays for the purposes of this agreement: New Year’s Day Civic Holiday Family Day Labour Day Good Friday Thanksgiving Day Easter Monday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day 9.2.1.2 The parties agree that for non-suppression staff Easter Monday and Remembrance Day will be observed as “floating holidays”, the days off being mutually agreed upon with the firefighter’s supervisor.

Employees working on rotating shifts would be entitled to eighty-eight (88) hours off for a full calendar year of service which is the equivalent of eleven (11) 8-hour work days. All other employees are entitled to Holidays as they are held. When an employee is not on active duty, due to illness, injury, or other reasons, excluding normal vacation, the employee is regarded as having had the Holiday off. In the case of shift employees, the number of Holidays in any calendar year, to which the employee is entitled, will be governed by the proportion of the said calendar year during which the employee was actively on the job.

Under no circumstances shall any work be performed on Labour Day. All work performed on the aforementioned Statutory Holidays shall be paid at the rate of double the employee’s regular hourly rate.
