Recognized Teaching Experience. 13.01 Previous teaching experience in Ontario or equivalent as well as previous occasional teaching experience recognized by this Board and its predecessor boards prior to March 31, 1985 shall be recognized as teaching experience for the purpose of placing a Long- term Occasional Teacher on the Elementary Teachers' Salary Grid. (a) In addition to Section 13.01, long-term occasional teaching experience since April 1, 1985 with this Board and its predecessor boards shall be recognized as teaching experience for the purpose of placing a long-term Occasional Teacher on the Elementary Teachers’ Salary Grid. (b) In addition to section 13.01, short term (daily) occasional teaching experience with the Greater Essex County District School Board accumulated after September 1, 2002 shall be recognized as teaching experience for the purpose of placing a Long-term Occasional Teacher on the Elementary Teachers’ Salary Grid. 13.03 Experience calculated shall be added to an Occasional Teacher's previous experience and shall be effective as of the next school year. 13.04 Occasional teaching experience accumulated following ratification of this agreement shall be calculated on the basis of 194 days equal one year and shall be recorded each September 1st. Teaching experience under Sections 13.01 and 13.02 shall be cumulative from year to year and shall be calculated as follows: (a) each full year of experience shall count as one (1) year; (b) any remaining fraction of a year shall be calculated as follows: i) less than 80 days in a given year --- No credit ii) 80 days and less than 160 days in a given year --- 1/2 year credit

(b) In addition to section 13.01, short term (daily) occasional teaching experience with the Greater Essex County District School Board accumulated after September 1, 2002 shall be recognized as teaching experience for the purpose of placing a Long-term an Extended Occasional Teacher on the Elementary Secondary Teachers' Salary Grid. Any extended occasional teaching experience recognized by the predecessor Boards prior to September 1, 1998 shall also be recognized. 13.03 11.03 Experience calculated shall be added to an Occasional Teacher's previous experience and shall be effective as of the next school year. 13.04 Occasional teaching 11.04 Teaching experience accumulated following ratification of this agreement shall be calculated on the basis of 194 that one hundred and ninety- four (194) days equal equals one year and shall be recorded each September 1st(1) full year. Teaching experience earned under Sections 13.01 11.01 and 13.02 11.02 shall be cumulative from year to year and shall be calculated as follows: (a) each full year of experience shall count as one (1) year; (b) for grid purposes, any remaining fraction of a year shall be calculated as follows: i) less than 80 days .4 of a year - no credit in a given year --- No credit ii) 80 days .4 of a year and less than 160 days - 1/2 year credit iii) .8 of a year and up to 1.0 - 1 year credit of a year in a given year 11.05 In addition to the experience recognized above, previous teaching experience in the Adult Day School Credit Program with the Board shall be recognized as teaching experience for the purpose of placing a teacher on the salary grid. Such teaching experience shall be calculated on the basis of one (1) credit equal to one- sixth (1/6) of one year. Teaching experience under this section shall be cumulative from year --- 1/2 to year creditand shall be calculated as follows: 1. each full year shall count as one (1) year. In any one (1) school year, no teacher shall accumulate experience exceeding one (1) full year. 2. any remaining credits shall be calculated on a semester basis each September as follows: i) one (1) credit - no experience ii) two (2) credits - 1/4 year experience iii) three (3) or more credits -1/2 year experience 11.06 Effective September 1,2001, each year of business or industrial experience for Extended Occasional Teachers in technological studies assignments shall count as one year of teaching experience on the grid to a maximum of six years.

It is understood that a month begins with the first day of this agreement the assignment. Experience calculated shall be added to a teacher’s previous experience and shall be effective as of the next school year. (e) Teaching experience gained prior to being hired as a contract teacher shall be calculated on the basis of 194 days equal equals one year and shall be recorded each September 1st. (1) full year. (f) Teaching experience under Sections 13.01 7.08 (a) and 13.02 (b) shall be cumulative from year to year and shall be calculated as follows: (a) 1. each full year of experience shall count as one (1) year; (b) 2. any remaining fraction of a year shall be calculated as follows: (i) less than 80 days in 0.4 of a given school year --- - No credit Credit (ii) 80 days 0.4 of a school year and less than 160 days in .8 of a given school year --- 1/2 year creditcredit (iii) 0.8 of a school year to 1.0 school year - 1 year credit Example: A teacher teaches 0.8 in year 1 and 0.8 in year 2. The teacher shall be paid at step 1 at the start of year 2. The teacher shall have accumulated 1.6 years of experience by the end of year 2 and will be placed at 1.5 grid steps at the commencement of year 3. Note: Proof of experience shall be furnished as the original of the written statement from the employing Board(s).
