Common use of Recommendations of the UPC Clause in Contracts

Recommendations of the UPC. (i) The UPC will consider all recommendations emanating from the Faculty levels for promotion. By April 15 of each year, the UPC shall recommend for promotion to Associate Professor and Full Professor any candidate receiving a majority of the “yes” and “no” votes of those present at the consideration of that candidate and the Xxxxxxx shall advise each candidate in writing of the decision by May 1. In the case of a recommendation against promotion the written communication shall indicate to the candidate at least in which area or areas of performance (in relation to the relevant Unit Approved Standards) the Committee would expect evidence of further development before recommending in favour of promotion. In order to enable a candidate to appeal, if they so wish, the reasons for the decision to recommend against promotion shall be given in writing to the candidate. (ii) A candidate who is not promoted has recourse to the appeal procedures described herein.
