Redeployment, Redundancy and Employment Protection. 27.8.1 A ‘redundancy’ means a situation where an employee’s employment is terminated by the employer the termination being attributable, wholly or mainly, to the fact that the position filled by that employee is, or will become, superfluous to the needs of the company, and no alternatives to termination (including those set out in the Redeployment and Redundancy Schedule) are available. The provisions of the Redundancy and Redeployment Schedule shall apply in the event of redundancy or redeployment.
