School administrators are expected to adhere to the student discipline procedures outlined in applicable state and federal law and Board policies. WCPSS shall refrain from involving the SRO in the response to student disciplinary incidents and the enforcement of disciplinary rules that do not constitute violations of law, except when necessary to support staff in maintaining a safe school environment. WCPSS shall provide training to school administrators regarding the role of the SRO and the appropriate involvement of the SRO in student matters that pose a threat to the safe school environment, at least on an annual basis. Such trainings shall include information on how to distinguish between disciplinary infractions appropriately handled by school officials versus threats to school safety that warrant a referral to law enforcement.
