Reinstatement from Definite Leave. An employee granted a definite leave of absence, with the exceptions of involuntary transfer and prolonged illness, shall, at the end of the leave or at an earlier date agreed to by the Employer, be reinstated in their position. If the position of a Permanent employee was abolished during his absence he shall be subject to the layoff provisions. If an employee's position was reclassified upward during his absence, he shall be subject to the provisions applicable had he been occupying the position at the time of its reclassification. If the position was reclassified laterally or downward during his absence, he shall elect one of the following alternatives: a) The application of the layoff provisions. b) To return to the reclassified position provided he meets the minimum qualifications.
