Common use of REMOVAL OF TOPSOIL Clause in Contracts

REMOVAL OF TOPSOIL. Immediately after clearing operations and before excavation commences, topsoil shall be removed, where and to such depth as directed, from the surfaces of borrow area, the stockpile sites, the areas to be back-filled and the areas of the Works where surface excavation is required. Removal of topsoil from disposal areas will not be required. Topsoil shall be removed within 2m outside the limits of required excavation and the surface shall not be disturbed beyond these limits. Topsoil is defined as the surface or top layer of soil, including find roots, the herbaceous vegetation and overlying grass and is characterised by the presence of organic matter.
