Restrictions on Outside Work. Gainful employment outside an employee’s regular City position shall be considered a privilege subject to regulation and not a right. No employee shall engage in a gainful occupation outside of the employee’s City position which is incompatible with employee's City employment or which is of such a nature as to interfere with satisfactory discharge of the employee’s regular duties. Any employee who wishes to engage in or accept such employment may do so after having first obtained written approval of the City Manager or designee. Approval of outside employment will be granted for a period not to exceed one (1) year. Employees wishing to continue outside employment will need to reapply for approval of outside work upon expiration of the current approval. Violations of this Section shall be cause for disciplinary action.
