Rhetorical Theory Conceptual Framework. ‌ Rhetoric is communication with the intent to persuade. In classical rhetorical theory, as developed by Xxxxxxxxx, effective rhetoric is comprised of ethos, pathos, and logos. Xxxxxxxxx describes ethos as the character of the speaker (Translated by Xxxxxxx, 1991). In a more modern interpretation and for the context of the teacher-student dynamic, ethos represents the credibility of the teacher as defined by their competence, character, and xxxxxx (X. X. XxXxxxxxx & Xxxxx, 1999). Before an instructor can use any further persuasion techniques, he must first establish his credibility. When students perceive their instructors as credible, they are motivated to perform well academically (Xxxxxxx & Xxxxxxxx, 1992; Xxxxxx, Xxxxxxxx, & Xxxxxx, 1997). Pathos is an appeal to the emotions of the audience. Xxxxxxxxx recognized that decisions are not entirely rational and that “we do not give the same judgment when grieved and rejoicing or when being friendly and hostile” (1991, p. 39). The final element of effective rhetoric is logos, which is an appeal to the logical or rational.

Discuss whether the goals and objectives of the Agreement have been met and what improvements are needed, if any.

  • Procurement Planning Prior to the issuance of any invitations to bid for contracts, the proposed procurement plan for the Project shall be furnished to the Association for its review and approval, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 1 of Appendix 1 to the Guidelines. Procurement of all goods and works shall be undertaken in accordance with such procurement plan as shall have been approved by the Association, and with the provisions of said paragraph 1.

  • Selection Planning Prior to the issuance to consultants of any requests for proposals, the proposed plan for the selection of consultants under the Project shall be furnished to the Association for its review and approval, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 1 of Appendix 1 to the Consultant Guidelines.
